‘Today is a landmark day in the history of SmartParc, as we welcome HelloFresh as foundation tenants at SmartParc SEGRO Derby. HelloFresh is exactly the kind of business we have always wanted to attract to this exciting new development in food production. It is the world’s leading meal-kit provider, and one of the fastest growing food businesses in Europe. But it also places a strong focus on sustainability, and shares our commitment to being carbon neutral.
‘HelloFresh has worked closely with the SmartParc, SEGRO, and TSL teams to make this launch possible in such a short space of time. This close co-operation has allowed the building to be constructed and equipped in just a few months, in line with HelloFresh’s growth plans for the UK. We would like to thank everyone, who has been involved in delivering this first building in Derby. In particular, we would like to recognise the contribution of Derby City Council, who have given us their unwavering support.
‘As the SmartPark SEGRO Derby community grows, we look forward to delivering to HelloFresh and to other new tenants, all the benefits of shared energy, logistics, utilities, and other services, which lie at the heart of the SmartParc proposition. These will deliver real advantages in terms of innovation, production cost savings, reduced food miles and food waste.
‘We are also delighted that the HelloFresh opening is creating new employment opportunities for the local community here in Spondon, in Derby and across the East Midlands. SmartParc SEGRO Derby will deliver up to 5,000 new job opportunities over the next few years, at a range of levels, which will have a positive impact on the local economy.
‘We are excited about the prospects for SmartParc SEGRO Derby, and for other SmartParcs across the UK and beyond, in the months and years ahead. We look forward to continuing this journey with HelloFresh and our other business partners, as we Reimagine Food Production for the C21st.’
